The tower is in rough condition. A fenced building is located near the lookout tower that houses a radio antenna. This building is marked as the Bell Tower Comm site on the USDA's Forest Service Interactive Forest Visitor Map.

QUOTE (The Commonwealth / Somerset, KY on October 15, 1941) – “The name of the Icy Cliff lookout tower of the Forest Service in Clay County was changed Sunday, October 5, to the John William Bell Tower and dedicated to the memory of the former Pulaskian who at the time of his death was district state forester.”
