Mid-Cottonwood Point Lookout

The photo was taken by me with my own camera on Sept.30, 1998 from a USFS helicopter on a flight to document the lookouts on the then Challis National Forest. Flight was set up by Fire Mgt. Officer Doug Baker. Jill McCurdy was the videographer, Dave Labelle was navigator, Jim Reid was the pilot. Nineteen lookouts or sites were documented. Since they were taken from a moving helicopter, some photos are not perfectly focused.

Description

Originally, a standard L-4 cabin was built here in 1934 by the U.S. Forest Service. It was abandoned in 1946 and no longer serves as an active fire tower.
