Description

Erected in 1962, the 60’ Mount Hope Fire Tower was one of the last constructed in Maine. The metal Aermotor tower with 7’ x 7’ metal cab replaced a 60’ wooden western tower with live-in cab and catwalk that was located on nearby Ridley Hill. The tower, owned by the Maine Forest Service, is active and is staffed each year by volunteers from the Sanford Township Fire Department.
