Rocky Mountain Fire Tower at the northern tip of Maine and Quebec woodlands can be seen to the east, north and west. The original wood tower was built by landowners in 1907. The Maine Forest Service constructed the 54’ steel tower with 8’x 8’ wooden cab in 1921. The tower is guyed and the cab is reached via an open ladder. The summit is reached only by trail and there is a warden residence one mile below. Access is with permit via private timber roads from the Dickey checkpoint.
