November 22, 1934:   "The foundation for the Marcoot tower is being dug at present time and the tower will be completed in about a week after the foundation is poured.  Assistant Leader Bierman and his detail under the supervision of Construction Foreman Jones will build this tower which is three miles from Marcoot, Mo. The new tower will be slightly different than the present towers at Buick and Czar, in that a stairway will be used instead of the ladder, to reach the cab.  The tower will be ninety-nine feet, nine inches height, to the floor of the cab"   (The Salem Post and The Democrat-Bulletin)
