An impressive feature of Garver Mountain Lookout is the 1929 log ground house which is still in relatively good condition. It was supplemented three years later with a 48' pole tower with 6' x 6' wood cab and catwalk. In 1964 a helispot and the present 30' timber tower with 14' x 14' flattop cab and catwalk were constructed. Used for detection until 1979, the cabin and lookout are being restored and will be placed in the Kootenai National Forest rental system in 2002.
