Description
Situated at the location of the former Main Gate of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Los Alamos Fire Lookout operated on and off for approximately 30 years and was primarily staffed by Los Alamos Fire Department personnel after 1951 (Zinn, pgs. 164-165). This particular tower replaced an earlier structure that was operated jointly by the Atomic Energy Commission and the Forest Service from 1944-1948 (Zinn, pgs. 164-165).
