Description
The 35-foot Aermotor LS 40 tower was placed on the summit of Vandewhacker Mountain in 1918. It was staffed for fire spotting purposes through 1971.
The trail to Vandewhacker Fire Tower is 2.5 miles long with an elevation gain of 1686'. For those with low clearance vehicles, the road to the trailhead is often rough and one may wish to walk the additional 2.6-mile distance along this road.
