Description

The first state fire tower in Oklahoma, Carnasaw Lookout was built in 1926. The original wood tower was replaced with a 100’ wood tower in 1937. That tower blew down in 1974 and was replaced with a 100’ Aermotor tower with a 7’ x 7’ metal cab. By the time the builders reached the 75’ level, it became apparent that a measuring error at the footings would make it impossible to continue higher. A deck was placed at that level, with the cab in the middle, explaining the unusual configuration. It is still in active service.
