Located at the headquarters of the Coos Forest Protection Association in Coos Bay, Oregon, Bunker Hill Lookout is unique for several reasons. Its very presence at the CFPA Headquarters alludes to the importance of fire lookouts as symbols of forestry and fire control. Constructed in 1996, the modified Oregon Department of Forestry flattop cab with catwalk is atop a 40' steel tower transferred from the Coast Guard. It replaced an observation platform on the water tower dating to 1939. Used for training lookout personnel and in emergencies, the structure will be listed on the National Lookout Register until 50 years old.
