Description

Dry Soda Lookout is a vintage USFS 60’ CT-2 wooden tower with a L-4 hip roof 14’x 14’ cab and a wooden catwalk. The structure is in good condition and a rappelling platform has been added at the 45’ level. The Malheur National Forest lookout is still staffed for fire detection each year.

Comments: Overall decent condition and normal wear signs that could be fixed with a fresh coat of paint. I didn't get to go in the cab or on the catwalk so I'm unsure of those conditions.

Comments? Road conditions are drivable for any vehicle. I reached the summit in my Honda Civic. There is a gate at the spur to the lookout. There isn't a sign from the major NF-15 road but there is one at the junction of NF-1516 and NF-3925. NF-3925 will take you to the lookout spur road.
