Constructed in 1933 on the Malheur National Forest in eastern Oregon, Fall Mountain Lookout is a 18’ pole tower with a L-4, 14’x 14’ cab featuring a wooden catwalk. The cab remains well-preserved in near-original condition, but the tower had to be replaced in 1953.

Comments: fridge works, heater works, stove and oven are brand new, 6 outlets for AC plus a power strip if more are needed. Cell phone service is excellent. Outhouse clean, well eqipped. The entire lookout is extreamly well equipped. Dishes, pots and pans, soap, nice Futon for sleeping or sitting.Easy access by car, no ruts in road. Drive to the lookout stairs, no hike at all. The stairs are a little narrow. This area is near a lot of open range, but "cattle guards" keep them well away from the lookout.

Electronics and Enroachments

Are electronic sites enroaching on tower? Yes
Comments: Overall, This is a nice lookout. But without exterior paint soon it will be in danger. Looks like this year it wont get any.
Other enroachments? There is a cell phone tower and several towers, sorry sunrise is right straight through the towers.I heard a generator start up and run for a while to support the towers I guess.
