Description

CL-100 model fire lookouts may not be pretty to look at, but they are very functional, surprisingly quiet in high winds, and low maintenance. That is why both the Park Service and BLM have adopted this Forest Service steel design with corrugated flat roof over the years. The lookout at King Mountain on the Malheur National Forest was built on the Ochocco National Forest in 1957 on a 10' steel tower. Previously the location had a D6 cupola built in the 1920s, followed by a cabin built in 1933. It will be listed on the National Lookout Register until it becomes 50 years old in 2007.
