Description
Morgan Butte Lookout on the Fremont National Forest is relatively recent by western standards. The first structure on Morgan Butte was the Round Pass lookout house, which was moved by low-boy trailer in the spring of 1958. The current R-6 flattop groundhouse with catwalk was built in 1964. In 1985 it was rehabbed and a hip roof added. The Round Pass site became an OMNI radar site and all duties were moved to Morgan Butte a short distance to the north.
