Located in Southwest Oregon on the Umpqua National Forest, Pickett Butte Lookout is a classic 14' x 14' L-4 on a 41' timber tower. Carefully restored for the cabin rental program, it has remained in active service in the summer, while being available for rental in the non-fire season (the long wet winters). Because the fire finder and additional lookout paraphernalia remain present, renters are treated to a visit to an authentic historic site. Because it is in such demand as a rental, the district is also making it available during the summer during periods of low fire danger for fire lookout enthusiasts and others.
