Description
Covering the north end of Big Horn forest is Black Mountain Lookout. The 14'x14' R-2 L-4 with catwalk on a stone foundation was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1939. Although no longer used for fire detection, Black Mountain at an elevation of 9500' is a popular hiking destination with commanding views above timberline.
