Located within the Waldo Lake Wilderness -- Willamette National Forest -- on the crest of the Cascade Mountains, Waldo Mountain Lookout is a 15’x15’ R-6 flattop ground house constructed in 1957. It replaced a D-6 cupola lookout built in 1929 which itself was a replacement for a pole and shake structure erected three years earlier. The station is still staffed on an emergency basis during lightning storms.
