Keffers Fire Tower, located in Schuykill County, Pennsylanvia, is a good example of the innovation that is frequently seen in forest fire detection networks. The round wooden cab was built on top of a metal tower that originally supported a domed military radar. When the radar network was discontinued, the mountaintop tower and the concrete block base station became surplus. The Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry acquired the site and constructed the round cab on the tower.
