Description

This 50-foot steel tower was originally ordered by the Vermont Timberland Owners Association in November 1926. It was dedicated July 4, 1927, along with 5 miles of telephone cable to connect it to the network.

Work to improve the access trail, paint the tower, and install a new foundation under the fireman's tower was completed in 1932. A new fire finder map was installed in 1938.

The tower was last manned in 1949. It was reconstructed by the Youth Conservation Corps using materials flown in by helicopter in 1976. The first flight of stairs for the tower was removed in 2022 following an inspection, which flagged them as being in poor condition.
