Description

Built in 1935 by the U.S. Forest Service, Evergreen Mountain is one of only two intact historic lookouts remaining on the old Snoqualmie National Forest. The 14' x 14' L-4 ground house also saw year-round use in World War II as an Aircraft Warning Service site. It has been adopted and restored by the Seattle Area Explorer Scout Search and Rescue Group with support from the Mountaineers and Quest School. Due to road washouts, it is now accessible only by a seven-mile trail. Materials were airlifted to the site by the 141st Army Reserve Aviation Battalion.
