Fosback Lookout is located on private land overlooking the Little Pend Oreille River in northwestern Washington. It was originally built by the Washington Dept. of Natural Resources on Monumental Mountain near Colville in 1965, replacing a state tower dating to 1945. Staffed until the mid 1980s, the lookout was declared surplus. The 14' x 14' flattop DNR cab with catwalk on a 10' wood tower was sold in 1996 to FFLA member Rod Fosback who carefully moved it to his own woodland. Fosback Lookout is again ready for staffing, should fire conditions warrant, as a volunteer service to the community by the Fosback family.
