Description
A 60 Aermotor LS-40 tower with 7’ x 7’ cab on Point Mountain was built by the West Virginia Conservation Commission in 1925. An additional 40’ section was added in 1965, bringing it to 100 feet. In 1952 a concrete block observer’s cabin was added near the base. With a viewing area of 500 square miles, it is no longer regularly staffed but is maintained for emergencies.
